Dear Woot & Tivo:
I love both of you. I do. But you two just can’t seem to come together. Buying a tivo that is limited to over the air (OTA) recording AND requires a monthly subscription is a non-starter for me. I just don’t see the logic of swapping an ongoing monthly subscription to cable/satellite with an ongoing monthly subscription to tivo. The userbase for this product are people who want to ditch their monthly subscriptions. And yet you offer it with only a monthly subscription.
Earlier this year, tivo offered a brand new TiVo OTA w/lifetime for $300. Woot, why can’t you convince tivo to offer that same thing with the devices that they’re selling through you? That’s a deal that I’d take in a heartbeat.
But there is just no way that I can take this deal where I’m tied to a monthly subscription.
I truly hope that the two of you - whom I love dearly - can come together and stop with the non-sense that you’ve been putting forth.
