Woot favorite returns. IIRC, this is supposed to be good for cheap wine, on the anti-buttery side of chards.

No kidding!

I will say that this wine has always gone over well with my white wine drinking friends on hot Texas days. I haven’t tried one in well over a year, but I remember it being a good value for those who want a stainless steel type chard (not buttery)

I need to stock up on some Chards for the summer. I like both buttery and non buttery. These seem to be a good deal for $55 out the door for 6 bottles. But are they good?

Boo! I got so excited when I saw this! But stainless steel counts me out. I like a slight oak flavor in my Chards.

My wife loves this. She’s a fan of the edgier whites (like the esteemed Albino Rhino).

Particularly perfect for beating the heat on a Texas afternoon. A perfect evening opener.

not a huge fan of stainless steel fermented chards…but a lot of friends are so these seem like good ones to keep on hand for them…probably in for at least one…

I like naked. There are a zillion oaky Chards in the world now…it’s kind of nice to have a wine that showcases some of the crisp fruit taste of the grape. I’m thinking this is going to be a nice Ravinia on the lawn wine…

Here is a good rundown on this wine from the previous offer thread by the winemaker:

Ah, we’re back at it. For those of you who were not around for our Cab/Shiraz last month, I’ll fill in some brief details. Two harvests ago, our winemaker at the time was a jovial Australian. But as Aussies can be, a bit devious as well. Together with the rest of the crew, he devised a plan to get the winery to send us to South Australia for a few weeks of drinking, surfing, and January summer time. Its another one of the those strange places like Chile with incredible wine and surf that makes us Californians feel right at home. Anyway, with his connections to winemaker buddies at home, we convinced our winery Calcareous that we could fly off to Aus, and put together a couple of small import wines of incredible quality and value. This was to help us out while we waited “PATIENTLY” the 4 years for our new plantings to start producing the fruit we needed. We ended up making a Cab/Shiraz which some of you are now familiar with, and this Chardonnay.

We of course wanted this Chardy to be a different animal from the Chardonnay we produce here in California. Our Calcareous Estate Chardonnay is a small production in the classic California style, fully malic dry with richness and butter but just a touch of oak. But as tastes change with time, the fruit first, unoaked, non-malolactic fermented Chardonnay has been in vogue the last few years. And that’s what this wine is. With a pH of 3.14 and TA of 7.2 g/L, this wine lost almost none of its malic acid. We are talking bright, refreshing, lots of apple and citrus flavors. It is 100% stainless fermented and aged, so what you get is pure expression of the Chardonnay from the Limestone Coast where it was grown and produced. I’m in for two–hubby likes the whites. Now I just have to get the boxes already stacked in the basement organized so I’ve got a place to put this! The last couple weeks of must buys and auto buys are going to take up some major space when they arrive!

In for one. Now I should be all stocked on summery pool side sippers. Just got to figure out how to keep it at my aunts without them drinking it all since that’s where the pool is.
