Good price but 1GB of RAM really isn’t adequate these days. And will only get worse as time goes by. Not to mention the Windows tablet uses 4GB of the storage for the OS alone, leaving less than 4GB for apps.

Check out the product page on the Encore Mini and some good reviews (3.4 out of 5.0) over at BestBuy.com

The Windows tablet has 16GB of storage. Still not a lot, but three times better than it seemed.

basic math 16-4=12

Whoopsie-doodle.

My understanding is that these 7" tablets will not be upgradable to the free Windows 10. Only tablets that are 8" or larger, and with 2 GB or more of RAM, will be.

Windows 8.1 runs fine in 1 GB, and you can have many apps open and many windows in IE. It does, however, sometimes take a couple of seconds to switch. But the performance of these is fine.

What’s not fine is the 1024 x 600 screen. Windows seems to use a higher resolution and the result is a fuzzy display.

The HP Stream 7 is $79 at the Microsoft Store with free shipping, and it has a great screen and 32 GB of storage. Well worth the extra $15–and it comes with a year’s subscription to Office 365 Personal (otherwise $70) that allows installation on an additional computer and a phone.

Where did you get the info about Windows 10?

16GB is $90 at Best Buy and you would have recourse if there is a problem, and it’s not reconditioned.

Can we buy the windows one and put android on it? Seriously, why does the windows one come with two cameras and the android does not?

1024 x 600 is a great resolution…for a smart watch

Spend $10 more (if you count shipping costs) and get this instead:
ASUS MeMO Pad HD7 Tablet - Quad-Core 1GB DDR3 RAM 16GB Flash 7" IPS 1280x800 WiFi, GPS - Blue Color (ME173X-A1-BL)

woot is selling these also (same price when you consider shipping- works out to be $70)

This has better resolution, double the storage, 1.2MP front and 5MP rear cameras. A lot better deal all the way around.

AWESOME! Thanks mate!

anyone pulling the trigger on the Windows tablet?

Yes, quite a few actually.

Hopefully, you are talking literally about shooting the tablet and not figuratively about buying it.

If you don’t update the OS, you don’t need more RAM. It’s not like this will EVER run Android 12 or anything…

Being very old school and dealing with 40 MB hard drives, I find it amusing that people can’t live with 12 GB of space, not to mention “cloud” storage, USB sticks etc.
