Toshiba USB 3.0 320GB Ext Hard Drive

Can this be hooked up to a PS3 for extra storage? I doubt it.

Craig. Certainly. Not for games and such, and any large amount of media would take a very long time for the XMB to read (even my 8, 16, and 32 GB thumb drives can take up to five minutes or so when they’re heavily loaded). But you could use it for system and /or game save backups or to use as media storage (if you don’t mind the very long time it takes for the system to find the data).

You can use any external HDD for PS3 backup. I have an ancient 120gig I backup all my game saves to. Some them you have to dl and format them a specific way but they will work.

In terms of the formatting, I’m fairly certain you just have to make sure they’re FAT (which is the default for most externals), rather than NTFS or HFS.

Also, if your drive is smaller than 320, you could easily swap this drive into your PS3 for more space.

This 500 GB Toshiba drive is for sale at Best Buy for $49.99 with free shipping.

I managed to snag it for $34.99 yesterday.

Conclusion: This is NOT a good deal. Come on, Woot!
