How are the earlier bottles of Viognier holding up?
Also are they drink now, or did you make these to age?
PS - What are the odds of getting a 2003 in the *%#&@! Red Rhone Blend Random 3-packs? I would love to try the early vintages listed…with my luck I’d get three 2009’s!
Wow three really nice deals up the same day…nice frackin job WD! well have to have one of the *%#&@! What else decisions decisions…
PS hoping for some of the older ones ![]()

The way it is worded is that you get three of the 4 vintages, which I interpret as being one each of 3 different vintages. Hopefully I am not wrong in that assessment.

That’s the way I read it as well, but definitely no guarantee you’d get the first vintage listed, which is the one I most want to try ![]()

Had some older Viognier and Marsanne at the Vegas bottling - both were quite good. El Jefe makes versatile wines that are good now but also good later.
Now to go in on the Murgatroyd or not…?

Thanks, that’s great to know! Most likely will be all gone by the end of the summer anyhow, but I might keep a few bottles for next summer if their good and age worthy. Now I just need to decide where to store all this stuff…always the dilemma…yet somehow I figure out how to finagle a few more bottles into the collection…ahh what a sickness indeed.
Hey El Jefe, howcome the pH on the 2009 Torcido and 2008 Murgatroyd are significantly higher than all the rest? How does that affect the ageability?

I’m afraid I don’t have control over that. You could try to appeal to the Woot Powers… I can tell you that you will get just one 2009 plus 2 of the other 3, so I guess that’s your odds!

Rhône whites tend to age pretty well in general. It’s probably a little strong to say that we made them to be aged, but rather we didn’t make them not to be aged. I would say that the older Viogniers in this deal are in the drink-now zone. I don’t really have a sense yet of how much longer they can go - they all have that nice roundness that Viogniers get with age.

2008 and 2009 were both very warm ripening seasons so we did get higher pH on some of the varieties. As far as aging goes, one general rule of thumb I’ve heard is anything under 4 is good, but it’s wine
I’m expecting them to age well because our wines have shown good aging in general.
Can these ship to NV? I don’t see it on the list. But I do see NV on the Twisted Oak site, so hopefully I can keep my wine club membership.

Cool…and with the higher pH/lower acidity do they still ring with your general house style of nice acid balance and not being overripe? Or was it just too warm and the flavours are all more jammy dark fruit than previously?
Actually NV is showing up on some offers but not others… Here is the complete list for woot sales; I’ve sent an email to the woot powers asking to fix it.
AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IA, KS, LA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, NV, NH, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, and WY

They do head more in the dark fruit direction but not overripe. I’m not a big fan of overripe jamminess either.
Where’s the B!tchSlap PS?
Sigh. You always do this to me. Offers either right after I’ve just bought a case of stuff or right when I have no money in the budget.
I shake my fist at thee!
That reminds me, I need to go see if I got the “wrong” bottles that April called about…
