Ultraloq U-Bolt Smart Deadbolt

I was just looking yesterday at a website I like called TheWirecutter dot com that is alot like Consumer Reports but does things alot of people use like keyless door locks and this brand is the exact one they like the best.

I got the same model on Woot! In January, but @$158… Still a great deal then… Lock works amazing and setup was easy. One of the best features is notifications when a user unlocks the lock. Wifi bridge is worth the extra. It does come with a deadbolt key to access the lock behind the panel.

I have one of these along with two of their UL1 door handles and they are very nice devices. I’ve had them for over 2 years now with no issues. They are very well built devices and high quality.

I will say though that if you don’t have an outlet really close to the door you are going to put this on the wifi dongle was always it’s weakest link. The main product itself is legit. The wifi dongle you have to waste a wall outlet for has the weakest Bluetooth range I have seen. They have been quite temperamental with my UL1s as well but I don’t really need the remote use ever so I just stopped using them.

They have a new model now that combines the deadbolt and wifi dongle into one unit with some additional improvements. Idk if you would think the newer model is worth the money but I would seriously consider it if you would end up wanting a solid remote experience along with not having to waste wall outlets.

This thing is garbage. 10% of the commands from Google home with unlock or lock it. And there’s a major security flaw where if you have auto unlock turned on, it rarely unlocks before you get to the door, then after you open and close and relock the door it decides to unlock it.
Support is in China so get ready for 1 reply a day in the middle of the night. Updating the locks firmware was suggested by Support which required me to get a separate apk and file to do the update since the utec apps update firmware button would not work.

Too bad it’s just a deadbolt option

I bought one for my Gulf beach rental house about a year ago. Support is terrible – I see above that support comes from China, so that makes sense. Couldn’t understand representative over the phone, couldn’t make sense of poor English on emails. The device did not work initially. It took months of emails and calls to figure out I had a bad bridge. They eventually sent me a new bridge, and the lock worked well for a while. After a few more months, however, I kept getting “Deadbolt jammed” warning on app, and the lock would not work except with a key. I suspect the salt air here gives just enough corrosion that the weak motor cannot overcome the resistance, even though it is easy to lock/unlock with a key. I treated the bolt with graphite, which allowed it to work about 4 days, but now it is jammed again. I’m ready to move on. I also noted above a comment about the bridge having a weak bluetooth signal. This is true. Fortunately I had an outlet 6 feet from the lock, or it would not have created a connection.

Same brand is on sale at Home Depot today:

Most of these types of things are. Most people have a deadbolt on exterior doors (they provide more security than just a door handle)
Kwikset makes a door handle lock with keypad, but you will need a hub to control it remotely.
