Finally, Im in my element! It was in the high 80’s today. 90’s tomorrow. Im refusing to turn on AC. I spend most of the year freezing to death to accomodate the other 4 souls in our house.
Had her flown in from Ukraine, Main Coon, she is 4 mo old and 9 lbs in this pict. Main Coons don’t stop growing until they are 3 to 5 years of age. She is my baby!!
It’s sad but we tried to find a good breeder in the US, but 5 of the ones we contacted were complete scams.
We raised and showed Maine Coons when I was growing up. We had all of the colors and it was so fun to bring them to meet and greets around NYC (banks and other places would sponsor these events).
One morning I woke up with a litter of kittens born in bed with me, Katydid loved my blanket so she decided to have them there.
Fun fact: the circles under their heads are gps trackers that track how much they graze, the area they graze and are e-fencing that the farmer can move them from pasture areas without having to do all kinds of different fencing
We had a genny at our old house. We havent fitted the new one yet.
Have been talking to our electrician about it since we moved . My big dilemna: no gas or LP at the house. We would have to get LP tanks which are unsightly.
After not having a yard for so many decades, and now having such a nice one, do I want to add unsightly propoane tanks that will take up space? I could get decorative fencing. This debate is about getting , say a generac set up or such. The kind that auto switches on when you lose power. You dont lift a finger.
The other option is portable gas genny like we had at our other house.Flip Main off. Drag it outside connect it to ground , start it and keep feeding it gas.
Any way, we had a hell of a storm. Severe winds, lightning. Trees down across the state. Over 100k lost power.
Please let me know your thoughts on generator options. You are one of my favorite voices of reason.
On a side note to argue for a genny, we have an ancient disabled British neighbor. We boiled water on our camp stove because she was about to perish because she hadnt had tea in 24 hours. As an Irish American , i do love hyperbole!
