If I knew the price was going to be better I would have gotten the chargers at this pricing…it’s odd how they keep posting this item with different price points etc.?
Otterbox is kind of a 2nd tier charger maker, probably a rebrand of someone else’s. Want 1st tier, go with Anker, Baseus, Ugreen, Apple,…
I’ve used multiple Otterbox chargers (cable and block) for over 6 months now (from Woot! ofc) and have no issues or problems (I have one taking a beating in my backpack daily). I’ve enjoyed their cases too for over a decade so if I have an issue I can trust their CS we will wait and see.
I’ve never used Anker , Baseus, UGreen (never heard of it). I’ve exclusively used Apple & Samsung blocks/cables all my life and took a chance on these Otterbox chargers bc it’s a good price point and it’s USB-C (an upgrade).
I had an Otterbo charger that stayed in an outlet for a year or two. When I removed it, The prongs fell out. Just fell out. YMMV, good luck with yours.
If you can not really remember if it was plugged in 1 year or 2 years??? How sure are you that the charger brand was even an OtterboX?!? ![]()
Yes I’m quite sure. It was behind a night table.
Otterbox makes great cases, I have a removable folio and three Watch covers. Great products all. But their chargers are probably rebranded from another manufacturer.
My faith is starting to waiver. I had an otter box ( commuter- 2 piece case that can easily be taken on and off for cleaning the protected device) on my s5 galaxy for its entire life- 3 years of use + still on the phone in my drawer right now.
I upgraded out of the s5 into an s8 active specifically for the ruggedization - this wore an otter box defender ( 2 piece case but included a holster since my pockets were getting overloaded
) it lived in that case until the battery started to expand, I replaced it for fun and to keep as a spare atak phone and upgraded to an s21 so about 4 years of use
Now I am in an s21 and the otter box defender fell apart after about 2 years, I got another same exact defender and again the interior frame is cracked and causing it to be loose on the phone…. I treat all my devices well but protect them for accidental drops so it’s not like I’ve gotten more abusive over time, I just feel like maybe their quality is starting to drop off.
My work phone ( ugh iPhone 15) is wearing a pelican voyager that I stole from woot for 5 bucks, it’s been a great protective case for me, but the holster broke in less than a year and maybe now at the 2 year mark the internal frame is also cracked, but not fully broken. With so many alternatives coming out, my faith in the tried and trusted brands is diminishing, may try a mous or other feature rich brand whenever I upgrade into another Samsung, or potentially jump to a pixel if they ever innovate to reach what Samsung does on the regular.
However, the chargers I’ve gotten from otter box have charged my phones without fail for years, so have my Anker chargers which I own many more of… so they definitely outscore the bullshlaha coming from temu and I will continue to buy them for my plungers of electronics
Edit: I was just trying to make an informative comment and it kind of turned into a dissertation, I apologize for my long windedness lol
I bought a 10-pack just to keep for those times when devices ship with NO wall plug/charger. Better to have even a 2nd-tier plug handy, in that case. At $4/plug, you can’t really go wrong with having them stuffed into a junk drawer. ![]()
Carl Kolchak is the OG goat.
I am trying to get my work to buy a 10 pack so when we loan them out and they never come back we aren’t at a loss
TLDR: Charger good ![]()
We ask for a Drivers License or Car Keys before loaning things out. Bring it back, you get your license/keys back, works like a charm!
My co worker jokes and asks for their left shoe… but theres always an excuse when asking for collateral, like they need it for more than the day. Its the business’ decision when it boils down to it, if they said you know what, yall order too many replacement chargers, we would say okay make it company policy that they have to pay for the placment out of their check if its lost and we will enforce that policy… but alas, whats on paper never lines up with how we say things should be done ![]()
