Vichnaya Pamyat is my tribute to those who lost or sacrificed their lives for the future of their country after the disastrous Chernobyl tragedy. It’s hard to imagine these events actually taking place within our lifetime and how even just as recent as a couple days ago, Ukraine is just now beginning to pick itself up from such a devastating blow. As for the backstory of the design itself, Vichnaya Pamyat translates to Eternal Memory while Місто Чорно́биль means City of Chornobyl. I thought it important to go with the original Ukrainian spelling which was made standard again after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.
