I’ve commented on this device before, and I’ll do it again…
I’m guessing the one I bought a year or so ago was a refurb due to the kickstand coming unglued. The refurb came completely unglued by the 3rd time I opened it. Woot gave me options to make me right, and I took the option to keep it. (Thanks, Woot!)
It works great, fits in my laptop bag well, and I travel with it frequently. I did pick up a small foldable stand from the mothership (Amazon.com: Anozer Tablet Stand,Adjustable Tablet Holder for Desk,Foldable for iPad Stand Dock Holder for iPad Air 5/4/Mini 6/Mini 5/10.2/Pro 12.9/Pro 11,Portable Monitor,Surface (4-13 inch)-Grey : Electronics) and that setup works very well. Glad I bought one.
I have the cheaper VA1655 version. It suits my needs well, but I considered this version as well.
Thanks for your feedback on the improved VG1655, it’s appreciated.
ViewSonic regularly runs fairly good deals on new and manufacturer certified refurbished devices both on their website, Ebay and their Amazon storefront. Ebay usually provides the best warranties; 2-years on certified refurbished devices via Allstate.
The portable monitor arrived today. When I opened the shipping box, I found the monitor just laying in the box with a thin cushion bag. It was not in a monitor box, just a shipping box, ie generic ups style shipping box with very little packing. The included parts were just laying loose in the box too. The monitor screen was shattered. I reached out to Woot and am still waiting back. I’m curious if anyone else had a similar experience or if other people’s monitors were packed better like possibly with styrofoam.
How frustrating.
Any clue who the shipper was? It definitely doesn’t sound like a reputable refurbisher. If it was even refurbished. Likely some type of customer return carelessly thrown in a box and shipped out. Who was the delivery carrier?
I purchased my VA1655 Certified Refurbished monitor directly from ViewSonic via their Ebay outlet and it came well packaged and in like-new condition along with a 2-year warranty through Allstate.
They are still available here on Woot so hopefully they can get you a replacement ASAP. Good luck!
It was UPS and the box was not damaged. It was also a fairly large box so I’m sure it bounced around a lot in it. And with the cables and power supply laying in the box loose, the hard plastic power supply could’ve even contributed to the smashed screen. I’m blown away as to how the monitor was carelessly thrown into a box to be shipped. I was really excited to get this monitor so hopefully Woot is able to replace it with one that isn’t shattered. I still have not heard from them but hopefully I’ll hear from them soon.
I received a VX1655-4k-oled perfectly packaged, apparently direct from Viewsonic. The adapter was missing the us prongs and Woot gave me a price adjustment. Otherwise like new.
Sorry about your experience, that was absolutely unacceptable.
