Hm, tough choice, what should I pick, a 4K TV or a 800 x 600 projector?

A $200 4K TV?

I’ve seen Vizio 43" 4K TVs for under $300.

If you read the full review that 800x600 is only for the SVGA. ViewSonic says it has HDMI 720p, 1080i, 1080p/60 and the PC port is 1600x1200

800x600 native. In other words, that is all the pixels you get. You can feed it a variety of inputs but they will all display at 800x600 in the end.

…Already have a 96" Da-Lite screen on the wall. My PLV Z1 went kaput years ago so I replaced it with a Toshiba 55" 1080p. The big screen though…I really miss it. This would be a great opportunity to bring back that movie theater feeling. Yeah it’s not hi-def, but until you sit in front of a 7’ screen in your man cave, it’s hard to understand. LOL

Am I correct in assuming:

  1. Using HDMI, I would be able to play movie files stored on hard drive with this.
  2. A home theater receiver/speaker system can be used with it.

Well, I ordered one but am having second thoughts - the replacement lamp costs as much as this refurb. Or more. Considering canceling the order…

If you use this projector for a 16x9 source, you’ll actually be using 800 x 450 pixels. It also won’t be as bright, since 25% of your pixels will be blacked out.

I have a 75" (6.25’) in my bedroom. Do I get it?
