Love their PS … and while I have yet to open their Syree and Suendero (Wine Club), I think I’ve tasted them at their Paso tasting room.

Their whites weren’t bad either. But since I drink my wines slowly, it’s better for me to stick with reds in wine storage!

Mark, are they worth visiting in Paso? I think I’ve finally settled in on my post-Woot tour stops: Paso on Thurday, Los Olivos on Friday, and Lompoc Wine Ghetto on Saturday. I’ve only been to Los Olivos in that group.

Vina Robles is making some very nice wines and they’ve just hired a new winemaker, Kevin Willengburg, who used to work down here in the Santa Ynez Valley. Their winemaker last year was Nick DeLuca, who had been winemaker for Starlane and Dierberg down here as well. Solid winemaker and vineyard guy ta boot.

I guess whether or not you stop there depends upon the styles of wines you like and how much time you have up in Paso . . .

As far as Los Olivos goes, you BETTER plan on stopping at my tercero wines tasting room when you are in town!!!

In fact, send me an email at larry@tercerowines.com so we can nail your visit down and I can hopefully make sure to be there!!!

Cheers!

I like their wines (thus being in their club), so definitely worth a stop. I also like the Tablas Creek (West side) wines (and Sanity loves their whites!). Clayhouse is downtown Paso, and also well worth a stop. If you like wacky, then stop at Clautiere Vineyard (East side w/ VR).

Turley is south of Paso in Templeton (still part of the Paso area) and a stop for those who love PS. They have some nice Zins as well.

Stillman Brown is in the Paso area, but over by the ocean (tasting room in Morro Bay (off PCH (Hwy 1) southwest of Templeton). But he’s over in Cayucos (north of Morro Bay) and likes people to drop in (IIRC).

And definitely stop at Tercero in Los Olivos. Well worth it. Especially now that Larry has it all set-up.

Thanks for the tips Mark. I might try to pick your brain on Paso some more before my trip. I’m definitely planning on hitting on Tercero. I’ve loved all of Larry’s wines I’ve tried.

We enjoyed many of the wines at Vina Robles last time we were there. Their Red4 table wine is a great daily (we stocked up). Their Creston Valley PS was so good we bought a bottle. There are also a couple other tasting rooms right where they are located. We always stop in Los Olivos and really like Byron and Qupe. We haven’t been to Tercero yet.

I have had Vina Robles’ 2007 Signature Estate Cuvee before. Two bottles off of Lot18 to fill out an order - they were actually really tasty and better than I had expected. Will definitely stop by the tasting room next time I’m in the area.

To echo other posters, this is a great winery - girlfriend joined last time we were in Paso. Wish the Signature Cuvee and Creston PS were here, though the Suendero is very good and worth a try.

For those visiting Paso, I highly recommend Epoch Cellars. Higher price point, but the Authenticity and Paderewski Vineyard Zinfandel are out of the world. Dark Star Cellars quite good too.

First, go to Tercero!!! Second, Qupe=voodoo doodoo!!!

Right next to Dark Star is Brian Benson Cellars … he was on Woot years ago. I can’t remember if his dad owned or worked at Dark Star. (Dad is Winemaker there.)

If you’re going to make a trip to Paso Robles, do yourself a favor and stop at Booker, Epoch, and Denner. I’m also a wine member at Hunt Cellars and I’m really happy with them. My friend is a member of Vina Robles and loves them. Stillman Brown is awesome, so if you can make it down to Cayucos then give him a visit.
