DX 9? WHY BUY?

oh thats a shame I only buy gforce pci-e

Better cards out there for the money? Seems like 8800s have been getting cheap.

this is epically lame. i guess its a decent deal, but nothing special. should at least get 512mb tho

Woot is totally losing it, you can get a 8800GS for this price now which will smoke out this card any day!

I use one similar to this, (not Visiontek) It runs CoD4, Crysis, Assassin’s creed, all on Max settings (Dx9) 1680x1050. It just has bad cooling, ie: I use a 2ft diameter fan blowing into my case to cool it when I run the aforementioned games. BUY THIS NOW.

Hm, it’s not listed on Newegg. No reviews, no buy. Sorry, Woot. Try again with a more modern chipset.

256 mb though… Bioshock doesn’t stand a chance.

Compared to a Nvidia Geforce 6600 512mb anyone? Need a replacement card. . this one still runs apparently but fan is dead. Any takers on this?

These were great cards in their day, but this does seem a bit overpriced… if it were the AGP version (Which is impossible to find cheap and the last fully stable ATI AGP card) it’d be a great deal.

For PCI-Express (much more common on “modern” PCs) $49.99 or maybe even $59.99 it’d be a steal. $79.99 gets close to “modern card” pricing… You can get an ATI 3850 or 3870 which would beat this into the ground for around $100 after rebate with a bit of shopping. That said if you have a slightly older system it’s not a bad card at all, just not a great deal…

(edit: actually, just checked Newegg and found quite a few different Radeon HD3850’s for $79.99-$89.99 after rebate, so this is not a good deal… a 3850 will be MUCH faster than a 1950, not to mention DirectX 10 capable.)

$79? Yeah right. Check out these two ebay auctions:

Because Microsoft doesn’t have a good OS that supports DX10 yet?

ATI lost me as a customer YEARS AGO for their horrible service and nearly useless tech support…not sure if AMD’s buyout made those any better yet.

nowadays nvidia is known to be backhanded.

amd/ati is too much in a shinazzle to rip off any of their customers.

Why would I replace a perfectly good 9600GTS with this? Give me an nVidia based card, and I’ll think about buying again.

bit more expensive, but best bang for your buck. can be overclocked like CRAZY (if you get nice cooling). look up the fan hack for it tho, it needs some fanspeed tweeking
