Walmart Reviews

some good reviews (3.3 out of 5.0) over at costco.com

A Best Buy at Consumer Reports.

Got one for a teenager for Christmas. Surprisingly decent sound at moderate volume in a medium room. Good with Bluetooth music, video games, movies. Solid option for decent sound. No issues setting up. The lights that show you which input is on are a little cryptic but that’s minor.

The 3851 comes with two small speakers. If you bought this one (3821), can you add the two small speakers later? Do they sell them separately?

Take a look at the manuals for the two systems (see Lichme’s post above for the product page for this one. The extra speakers for the 3851 connect to the subwoofer. Not sure this subwoofer has those connectors.

I just saw this in Sam’s Club for I think $90 new. I picked up the 2.0 version from them (without the wireless sub) for $70 and remember seeing that the 2.1 was also on sale, plus their bonus instant savings brought it down to just about $20 above the 2.0 soundbar. Not sure though if it still is discounted to that price as it was about 2 weeks ago when I had seen it.

Anyhow, as far as this soundbar goes…a major improvement over the Vizio TV speakers. The only main issue is that the volume adjustment increments are a bit far apart…lacking a fine tuning volume levels. No other complaints and it is well worth the price!

[MOD: Sams’ has no sub. See Dave’s post below.]

I bought this sound bar (no subwoofer) from Woot many months ago as a bluetooth speaker in my kitchen/living room. The sound is pretty good… loud and clear. The connection to the bluetooth is seamless and steady.

My only complaint is that the speaker is very directional. The sound doesn’t really ‘fill’ the room. It may be how I have it placed (on top of the cabinets), but based on the reviews I expected a richer quality to the sound.

As an FYI, on Sam’s Club website, the $90 one is the one without the sub. (Obviously, what they have online doesn’t necessarily match what is in the store.) http://www.samsclub.com/sams/38in-2-0-sound-bar-home-theater/prod10770593.ip?navAction=

How has your experience been with refurbished speakers?

Got the one with the sub and sat speakers months ago for my bedroom. Signifiant improvement over the flat screen speakers.

Obviously can’t compete with the the 7.1 system in the basement but its not designed to do so. Lately, I’ve just been lazy to go down to the basement and end up enjoying Netflix in my bedroom with great sound.

Also connects flawlessly to my iPhone and iPad via BT to play music.

Very satisfied customer here.

This is factory reconditioned by VIZIO or their designated partner and carries a VIZIO warranty.

A “factory reconditioned” item was returned, inspected, and restored to fully working condition by the original manufacturer or a certified partner. And the original manufacturer stands behind it with a warranty. It’s as close to new as you can get without technically being “new”.
