Does this include the wall mount hardware?

Very interested…

4.2 Stars over at Walmart

Under 'Specs" and ‘In the box’ no wall mount hardware is listed so…no.

Yes, I can read.

On various other reviews outside of woot for refurbed Visio sound bars, it also does not list them in the box, yet the answered questions from people who have bought those same units say yes, they are indeed in the box, but not every refurb is the same, thus the perfectly valid question. Brackets aren’t always something listed as an “in the box item” just as screws and other smaller non-essential pieces that don’t particular have anything to do with it’s functionality. If I purchased this, I would immediately be putting it on the wall, thus needing to know if I need to purchase a separate set of brackets elsewhere.

My husband is the tech guy in my house and I’m trying to find a sound bar as a gift. So, this is probably a dumb question. Do I need a receiver or does this plug directly into the TV? If directly into the TV is it just thru standard audio jack?

Either :-). I’d run an optical cable from the TV and not use a receiver. That way any TV input (if you have broadcast plus cable plus Blu-ray plus…) will pass sound to the soundbar with no other fiddling.

“Factory Reconditioned” = maybe a better chance that it does have them?

I bought this at a warehouse club. The sound is okay but I regret the purchase for two reasons. 1) Now I"m required to use separate clickers since the sound bar doesn’t power on with the TV. 2) The instructions didn’t come in the box for clicker I now am required to use. I have now idea what each of the cryptically labelled buttons do.

I went to check the Walmart reviews and in the Q&As found the following answer from a Visio guy:

Thank you for inquiring about our product. This model does come with the wall mounting brackets. Thanks again and have a great day.

But, that’s for new units. It looks like the model is from 2013. Its no longer available at Walmart. I surfed around the 390 reviews. All the good reviews seem to be from 2013 and early 2014. From Mid 2014, most reviews are rated lower. Reliability seems to have degraded since. May be Visio moved the production to a different factory. Looking at the pattern, I will pass.

Another thing: This is model S3820w-C0C. They seem to have models with different last characters (e.g. S3820w-C0B)& model years (check out Amazon). Not clear what the differences are.

Agreed. This very well could be an older model. I’m interested in the amazon “C6” 2015 model, seems to have good reviews. Can anyone shed light on whether what woot is selling is the same?

Today’s offer is the C0C, the newer C6 is more of a boxed/square model on all sides.

Anyone know if I could program my xBox remote to control the volume on this instead of the TV? I really (really) don’t want another remote laying around.

you will need a cable with that

It DOES NOT HAVE AN HDMI INPUT OR OUTPUT

My mom has one. I ran the TOSLINK/optical digital cable from the tv into the soundbar and disabled the internal sound on her samsung smart tv so it controls the volume, along with programming the cable remote. I run it in PCM mode as its only a 2 channel soundbar.

This thing has no BASS at all. She loves my Denon Soundbar. I ended up getting an $80 8" yamaha sub to connect to this from amazon. World of difference. AS I recall this was a deal for prime members and she paid 60 or 70 bucks for this new.

if your TV has as optical digital output connect it and disable the internal speakers. Let the tv control it.

Typically all soundbars have their own power source, and are plugged directly into the TV Via Optical Cable or HDMI. I have everything I own hooked up through Moster Cable wiring and many times you can find Amazing deals on Woot’s parent site, Amazon. There is an incredibly high markup on Accessories such as Monster cable so Amazon offers at a fraction of a brick and mortar store. Another great brand is monoprice. They are also on Amazon.

Another note is in my personal experience if you have a choice between optical and HDMI, HDMI seems to out perform optical with VERY noticable difference. (Check out Amazon’s Used cables that are marked “Like New” that are PRIME. Save even more just for damaged packaging ;).

Also if even possible to plug into receiver you will likely DOWNGRADE the quality.
