The 65" Vizio M series 2015 TV was named best TV of 2015 over all other brands. I was in the market as our 60" plasma was overdue for a replacement.
I have the M-65 2015 TV I bought new Black Friday 2015 from Amazon. Same TV just a bit bigger. Mine came in with a loose HDMI/USB side connector panel. I called Vizio and they scheduled an in home repair two days later.
I was warned to take it down if wall mounted and I had not done that yet. He came in and we set it face down on a blanket on our larger than the TV kitchen island.
He replaced it and another board just to prevent a second trip for an often called in repair.
I have not had a problem since. I am more impressed with fast friendly professional service when there is a problem, than when nothing is wrong. Then the company’s true colors show. I had Samsung TVs blow all their capacitors, and my Panasonic plasma TV lose its blacks. Samsung had to be dragged kicking and screaming to do an out of warranty repair for a whole slew of bad capacitors that year. Panasonic no longer makes plasma TVs.
Vizio’s service blew them away.
I agree with the suggestion to buy a warranty from SquareTrade to at least one year, I buy 3 ot 4 whatever the max is for our purchase.
Vizio always seemed like a cheap brand to me. But then again Goldstar which made everything 30 years ago was cheap too. People love them today. Their full name is Lucky Goldstar, now shortened to LG.
I think Vizio is equal quality to any brand. The 2015 model M series has a story of its own. Vizio makes a high end Pro series TV that completely blows away the competition. They make a P (professional _ series model in several sizes that typically has no TV tuner and acts as a monitor. You don’t need a tuner for cable or streaming, only for over the air TV with an antenna. IN 2015 Vizio stopped the P series for a design change, and made the M series with most of the P features.
Most TVs today have edge lit displays meaning they have LEDs all around the edge of the screen. Full array LED screens have LEDs packed together covering the whole screen not just the edges. This allows for dimming zones for deeper blacks and an overall screen picture that pop! All Vizio TVs have full array LED lighting, even my 22" in the RV!
The cheaper Vizios like the E and D series have none of the features of the M and P series. The M series is the little brother to the more expensive P series and has about all its features but fewer dimming zones.
Assuming the refurbisher is Vizio and it was done correctly this is a dang good buy. I would buy this M-60 if I didn’t already have the M65.
But do get the extended warranty with any refurbished TV. One year should be enough. If the refurbished and the warranty from Square Trade are close to the same price as a new set with factory one year then buy that.
The 2015 M series TVs are superior, the Vizio service is excellent and you’ll get American support people 100% of the time in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. It is an American company out of Irvine, California and has its products manufactured to their specs in Mexico and China like all other electronics manufacturers do today. They are as American as GM or Ford.
