VTech DECT 6.0 5-Handset Cordless Phone w/ Digital Answering System

Does the handset have a mute button?

yes

Battery
It takes up to 16 hours for the battery to be fully charged. When it is fully charged, you can expect the following performance:
While in handset use (talking*) - Up to eight hours
While in speakerphone mode (talking*) - Up to five hours
While not in use (standby**) - Up to six days
*Operating times vary depending on your actual use and the age of the battery.
**Handset is not charging or in use.

While DECT 6.0 sounds like it’s a 6 GHz system (and the Woot description also says as much) “DECT 6.0” is a marketing term coined by someone at Siemens. They actually operate at 1.9 GHz, which avoids the interference and harmonics with 2.4 GHz devices.

My phone company charges $199 plus taxes per year for all of these kinds of features, plus unlimited US and Canadian calling. It’s Packet8. Just hooked the voip thing to your router.

For the “call waiting” to work, do you have to subscribe to that feature from the phone company?
Yes, the caller ID information is sent during the ringing pulse and decoded by the phone. If you don’t pay for Caller ID, nothing will show. In my area, AT&T used to charge $1.99, but over the years, it’s gone to $7. Some companies include caller ID as part of a basic package.

And yes, there is a MUTE function, click the link on the bottom of the Woot description to see the enlarged HANDSET picture. MUTE is the bottom middle.

And yes, this phone does work with a MAC.

Note: One other down side to cordless phones – if the power goes off, the base station, which is the transmitter, also shuts off. Your handsets may be charged but they won’t work without the base being powered.

If you live in an area with frequent power outages, look for a base that has battery backup, or make sure you also have a corded phone handy.

I switched to Vtech last time I bought phones a few months ago, not this model, but I’m happy with it.

Here is the Manual

dammit!!! i just bought these from Amazon 2 days ago for a buttload more. What’s their return policy?

yes

There are no headset/headphone plugs on these handsets. So, unless you are using the speaker-phone function, there is no hands-free option with this set :^(

i’m used vtech phones for years. no problems with the phone even after dropping it accidently. getting these to upgrade.

i read the description and didnt see anything that said whether you can or cannot use them to remotely monitor other rooms. can anyone confirm/refute this please? thanks

Is there a headphone jack? Does not call it out but the current VTech I have does.

<- $96/yr skype kthxbye

shouldn’t be any problem. i’ve returned to amazon before.

I’m on the fence on this one, need some help!

Currently, I own the same type of phone system but from Panasonic.

They were damn expensive but they have lasted me well over 5 years and have just recently began to be a problem…

Im interested in these because of their price, but I rather not spend 50 bucks and have them last 1 year. If they are not good quality, I rather spend more but get better like Panasonic…

Any rat-like reports?

Just read another post and NO is the answer. : (

how durable in case they’re dropped?
have been using vtech phones for some time and find them very durable. dropped them a few times…no breakage to the case and the phone kept working.

dependable product. speaking from years of experience, i recommend these phones. getting these to upgrade.

Wow, I wonder how many people need that many land line phones?
