I’ve been cutting my own hair for years and I’ve found that Wahl clippers are the best.

I just noticed there are no guide combs. Is there just a built in mechanism? If so, does it go up to a #8?

It doesn’t work like standard clippers. Basically, the “timing” of the various teeth is random, instead of synchronized, and the motor goes much slower, so you just do a single pass with the blade perpendicular to your scalp and it will cut a small percentage of hairs in its path. Therefore, as long as you keep it moving at a constant speed (and don’t stop while it’s in your hair), it will remove random hairs evenly, regardless of length.

I noticed the same thing. I use a commercial grade Wahl trimmer for my beard. It’s been great and used to death. Was wondering if this might be a replacement. Those guide combs are the only way to set the length consistently and accurately. It is doesn’t have them, then perhaps it is too light duty for my intended use.

You don’t. You use your refurb Roomba to pick up the hair clippings.

Btw, Wahl does make pretty good products. Though I personally think Oster are the sturdiest. But if you’re not planning on sharing with your English Sheepdog, knock yourself out with these.
