Does it come with USB 3.0 drivers for windows 7? Or will it work with USB 2.0?
Has anyone used these to supplement XBoxOne storage capacity and how did it fare?
I have 2 of these that I use for Xbone storage and I love them. Just plug them into the back, wait for it to format, select whether you want to save things to the internal HD or the new external and you’re done!
Will it work for a macbook? I am assuming yes, but amazon has one that specifies it’s for a mac and this one doesn’t say.
According to the User Manual to use on a Mac OS and to use with Time Machine, it needs to be reformatted to a single HFS+J partition. (To me, the language is not clear if that applies only in the case of Time Machine or also the general Mac OS case.)
There is also a note that says the WD SmartWare for Mac will not work with this model. I don’t know how important that is or not.
To use it on mac as a regular drive, you’ll either need to format it with disk utility (which is very easy) as the above poster mentions, or you’ll need to install an ntfs driver. (Something like paragon ntfs).
Without the driver, the drive won’t even mount. You’ll be able to see it in disk utility, but not in finder.
This is apparently the 2013 model. With shipping, it runs you $76 and you get a 6 month warranty. Amazon sells the 2TB 2016 model for $80, and you get 3 years of warranty. $4 well invested, I think.
