So… You want me to put “important documents” and "precious memories " on something that obviously broke down and had to be "factory reconditioned "… Right.
With the advantage here being:
I Know Woot… never heard of Grassroot before now…
but five bucks is five bucks…

If you scroll down there is a more extensive listing of the specs …
That’s handy …
I have several WD drives in different configurations, including portable models. I have found them to be very good in terms of reliability and performance.
This model is a discontinued model - nothing wrong with that.
You can get the current My Passport directly from the WD store for 1TB $60 and 2TB $80 with free shipping (USA). They are on sale right now.
Not a great deal for a refurb; Best Buy is advertising a 1gb WD USB3.0 drive for $2 more: This Week’s Ad
Once you take into account shipping from Woot, Best Buy’s Free 2-day shipping, and tax for Best Buy, the price comes out to be about the same. I’d skip out on this one.
I purchased a 2TB “My Passport” HDD (admittedly, not “slim”) from Newegg last year for $79.99 shipped. It also was not “refurbished” nor was it “recertified”.
Likewise, I see them new on Newegg for $77.99 (shipped) right now, and new for $79.99 (shipped with Prime) at the mothership.
