Unless, of course, you’ve got more than 2TB of storage in your computer.
I’ve got 4.75TB spread across 4 drives. Now, to do the important stuff, yeah, 2TB would more than cover that.
When you make a backup image, you certainly can just backup everything on your drive.
However, that’s not necessary. You can exclude the data files like your documents, pics and videos.
Those can be backup up separately.
Why am I saying this? Because if you separate your backups so that one is for the OS + Programs Installed and one is for data, you have more control.
You can have a daily backup for data and only back up the OS + Installed Programs, say, monthly.
You’ll need to use a backup software that supports taking the image of the computer and supports file exclusions.
In any case, the 2TB version does provides good value.
I am interested in these HD’s. But…
I use a Mac laptop I bought in November 2007, running os Snow Leopard…
I am on a very limited budget…
Will this unit work with my Mac? What would I need to do to set it up to backup my Mac’s HD?
Right from the spec page …
OS Compatibility: Formatted NTFS for Windows 10 or higher, Windows 8, 7 Vista operating system. Requires reformatting for Mac OS X

Plug in the USB cable. Launch Disk Utility. Click the drive icon on the left of the window for this Passport. Click the Erase icon at the top of the Disk Utility window. Use the drop-down menus to select the format type. Click Erase.
Done. It’s now formatted for your computer.
