Non-vintage. This is the fifteenth and final bottling of white port, bottled summer of 2015. Also, I remembered too late for photos that the bottle shape is different. Bottling # 15 is in a squat 500 ml bottle - a traditional port bottle style.
The extensive aging was all in 60 gallon neutral (old) French oak barrels. White port, like all wines, will change as it ages in bottle. It will change more rapidly once opened, but I find it enjoyable for at least a couple of weeks after opening.
Bottled 2015. Not really “designed” for long term bottle aging.
One of my favorite wines. I have tried white port from several other winemakers, and none compare to this. Won’t ship to CT, so I thank my wootleg connection - ddeuddeg. Guess I will be making a trip to Buffalo before the snow really comes.
Peter - thanks for all your time here, and especially with including this wine.
Notes for an earlier woot offer mention bottling #17(?). Would that then have been #14?
Thanks Peter!
Well, I guess either Toby or I lost track. I could research it, but why?
After a great trip to Portugal and Porto, my wife and I fell in love with White Port as an aperitif.
Seeing this is from Wellington… Auto-buy
It’s just a curious mind thing. Kinda like trying to keep track of which Duke is which, but here the different bottle shape will tell.
Pulled a cork on an '06 Victory last night, and quite enjoyed it.
I couldn’t resist… I opened one from a previous shipment… then bought another set. Thanks Peter!
I opened a bottle of this tonight with desert for my sisters birthday. It was delicious. Not over powering or overly syrupy. Sweet and tasty.
Now I am trying to figure out if I should buy more. I have one more in the cellar still. But the short bottles sound pretty cool.
Wow, made the last purchase ! That’s a first for me.
