That picture of the guy using it to charge his phone is way more offensive to me than is probably warranted…
A USB port on any size gasoline generator offends me, every time!
This is a good deal and highly rated generator… Quiet as hell too… RECOMMEND!
Northern Tool offers the Honda EU1000i 900-watt Portable Generator, model no. EU1000T1A, for $699 with free shipping. Plus, coupon code “244825” bags a $100 Northern Tool Gift Card. Assuming you’ll use the gift card, that’s the lowest total price we could find by $100. It can run for up to 8.3 hours at 1/4 load or up to 3.8 hours at full load.
WEN is a better deal… unless you don’t need 2000 watts… then it’s still a better deal.
For the home, this might be sufficient if you run an extension cord and power certain things in your house like the fridge, furnace, sump pump. However you would need 2 of these and the parallel kit if you wish to plug into your home transfer switch. These are very tempting, I could buy 2, and the parallel kit here:
http://www.amazon.com/WEN-56421-Parallel-Connection-Generators/dp/B0144O1808/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449860148&sr=8-1&keywords=Wen+parallel+kit
I read that doing this you don’t get true 4000W, more like 3600W.
Or, I can get a 3100W Champion inverter generator for about the same price on Amazon, minus the parallel kit.
hi,
I don’t know much about generators but would this be sufficient enough for when power is out for a couple of days due to bad weather?
If it weren’t so expensive for a ridiculous experiment, I’d put one of these on the carrier of my e-bike and turn it into a hybrid It’s not that much heavier than the two extra lithium batteries I currently carry with me and they only give me an extra 30-odd miles…
But you have to put fuel in it. Might as well buy a motor scooter!

Make a small trailer and tow it.
