Mine stopped working on gasoline less than 2 months after purchase. Haven’t tried propane yet.
Contacted WEN for warranty and referred to local shop, but they’re not very friendly on the phone and want a $40 "deposit’ to "look at it: to determine if it’s warranty or not.
If you used gas with ethanol, that may be the problem. I switched to non-ethanol gas a decade ago and have had no trouble since. BTW, regardless of gas type, you must shit off the fuel valve and let it run till it dies. That drains the fuel bowl where the corrosion starts.
Did you mean “SHUT off the fuel valve” or “shit ON the fuel valve”
Might want to do both just to be safe.
Any gasoline which contains ethanol (most does) should be treated with a stabilizer ( like Stabil) before storing it in a generator. The ethanol is hygroscopic (it absorbs water) and that leads to rust in the fuel tank and clogged carburetors. If no stabilizer is used the tank and carb bowl should be emptied before storage.
“charging your family’s cellphones at the campgrounds”
You’ve got to be kidding. A 4750W generator to provide 10W?! Just use a car charger and give your neighbors a little peace and quiet.
This is the second time recently this has been up and the shipping restrictions don’t show it can’t be shipped to CA. Fix it.
I thought Cali outlawed gas things. Guess you need a plug in electric generator.
It takes effect in 2028.
I’m in California and I bought this generator a couple of months ago. No problems shipping it. That law is not in effect anytime soon.
By the way, I just fired it up for the first time this weekend using propane. It started on the third pull. The negative cable for the battery is missing so no electric start until I find one. Also, there is no engine switch. It has what looks like an automotive ignition switch that requires a key. I don’t remember seeing a key in the packaging, but the key from my 2003 GMC Yukon works.
I was hoping that the irony of a plug in electric generator would receive more consideration.
hope no more, irony established.
I thought mine was missing also but found it hooked to the side of generator next to the battery.
Wrong. Bought a Duramax dual fuel shipped by tractor supply. The reseller on these Wen gems just won’t ship to CA but will to NV, OR and WA.
CARB COMPLIANT! Means that it can be shipped to California. WTF Woot? I can’t complete my transaction because someone there checked the wrong box. Get your shit together Woot.
The reseller is Amazon, according to the post.
Hi there. We get this list of things that can’t ship to various states. For some reason, this is on the list to your state. Sorry.
I thought mine was missing too, but it was tucked under the back panel along the motor/above the battery.
