Bought this last time it came around on Woot. It broke on the first use. Something wasn’t right and it got really hot, then refused to spin. We junked it. It was also awkward to use, even before it got hot enough to be a fire hazard.

I wouldn’t buy it again. I’d spend a bit more money and get something of better quality.

It is a shame that you had such bad luck, I haven’t had any problems with the one I bought and have used it to cut, drill and grind numerous things.

It is only $24.71 with free shipping new on Amazon so it is really not that great a deal. You are saving less that 3 bucks for doing Woot.

Though as far as the reviews go they seems to be pretty positive and there are over 300 of them on the Amazon page alone. Could be that the member here just got a dud.

I am going to pass on this one but will keep in mind as I may want to buy one on Amazon at some other time. I already have a Dremel tool or two (I have tons of tools that get lost). But none with a flex shaft and always nice to have as many attachments as possible. in fact would love to see a giant set of just Dremel tool typd attachments here on Woot for a great price.

In general these tools are awesome to have around for so many things. Not the least of which is using a cutoff wheel when needed.

Sad to say, but the $3 premium would be more than worth the peace of mind for the ease of returns in the event of a dud. I bought a netbook years ago that had no audio and it was maddening trying to get it straightened out and woot was zero help with the process. Always weigh that when buying anything here.

I agree. A few dollars is nothing compared to the peace of mind you get.

For those that own one of these, what is the power like? I bought a nameless tool like this before and it just bogged down on about every task. Does this have a pretty good motor in it? Thanks for any insight on this.

Got one a month or so ago, for me the power is adequate (barely) but for the price it was worth it. I use it mostly for polishing with some occasional grinding / sanding and it is still going. This is a twenty dollar tool that you throw away if it breaks.

This is another prime example of undersold Amazon junk being peddled on Woot as a deal… This is just about the exact price that you can buy this for at an reputable merchant - $20 at HD and Wallyworld… How is this Woot worthy? Oh, how this site and the value of it has fallen… Rarely is there actually an exceptional deal like was frequently the case in the Woot days of old…

Agreed. I used to buy stuff here all the time. Deals were great, customer service was actually great as well. I still seem to come by, but I’m starting to wonder why. I haven’t seen anything worth buying in well over a year. Saving $4 isn’t worth the hassle…

Does anyone know if this thing fits Dremel bits? Mine just crapped out on me, and I already have a ton of attachments.

Yes, it would. But at $20 (after S/H) it’s kinda expensive for a bit holder.

Why don’t you buy another Dremel and use the case it comes in to hold them? This product is garbage.

I understand a lot of ppl buy the ones at harbor freight for just this purpose – $7-ish when cpn comes around.

I have bought a bunch of different rotary tools, including this one and different Dremels as well as others. The ONLY rotary tool worth anything at all is a Black and Decker. They do run a little hot but if you handle them where you are supposed to they are fine. You can get those for about 30 dollars on Amazon. All of the Dremel accessories will fit it too. I wrote here before about my hatred for B&D tools except for the rotary tool and someone suggested I should try them again, so I did. Except for this rotary tool I still hate B&D tools however.

Foredom, check it out for professional quality.
