Woot, why do you mock me by constantly offering this sliding version? You know I have the non-sliding WEN equivalent, and wish I had this one. It gets the job done, but oooh, dat slide.
@conanthelibrarian, this is the Home Depot product page, no user reviews. You had the wrong model number. http://www.homedepot.com/p/WEN-15-Amp-10-in-Sliding-Compound-Miter-Saw-70716/205491617?MERCH=RV-_-rv_gm_pip_rr-_-203596452-_-205491617-_-N
I have this, from a previous sale. The previous poster is right, you WANT that slider, for stuff like 2x8’s. This saw does everything I wanted it to do, and I use it almost weekly.
I always wonder how well this compares to the similar Chicago Electric saw that Harbor Freight has on sale for $88 with coupon right now. Not sure Wen is that much better of a brand.
This would be a very occasionally used tool for me, so I’m not needing the best.

I think for occasional non mission critical work the Harbor Freight versions are a good choice. They however come with a so so blade and sounds like this one comes with a better blade outa the box. A better quality blade is going to give much better results, especially if your trying to do inside trim work that has to be accurate and look nice.
I bought the Harbor Freight 12" double compound slider because I had their old coupon that made it 128 and the bigger blade gives you a lot more options as far as size of boards you can deal with, the slider part helps with either size saw as you have more area to work with in the slide.
Look at both and see if they look to be built exactly the same, most non big boy brands are made in China now anyways but just a better blade will cost you about as much as the WEN does now with a better blade included.
I NEED to buy a better blade for mine, then double check everything is really lined up and true before I use it and no matter what saw you buy at least double check everything’s right so you don’t waste time and wood/money
