Too much money per gig anyway it is old technology

#5

This is really good for people with older computers, because to deal with an HD bigger than 120GB special measures (such as overlays, IDE cards, etc) are needed. And if you have an older enclosure this is the biggest size you can use, too.

#6

bad deal, got 200 gigs for $30, and it had more cache too

#7

this drive has only 2m of cache… Woot has a better deal on a 250g drive (also with only 2m cache) for $49…

Who’s got the auto-woot-refresher for me? I’m especially interested in this non-web-based one I’ve googled called wooters…

First thing, this woot-off caught me totally off-guard. I was really ticked I missed the bag of crap last week. I was tired and went to bed about 5 minutes before midnight.

Anyway, regarding this woot, “the times they are a changin”.

I recall lusting after a "Plus"10 Meg HardCard (that’s right 10 Meg - not Gig) but couldn’t afford it at $600.00 20 years ago.

Nonetheless, this $35 Refurbed 120G drive is no bargain.

Got a Seagate 500Gb Sata II 16 mb drive for $199 at Fry’s yesterday. I think someone messed up because I went back to snag another and it was at $310 today.

Anyway this is much to small to bother with even though the cost per GB is good.

Your hard drives would be 5000 times more attractive to me if I would be able to purchase 4 at a time instead of 3 (for RAID 0+1). It’s like buying a set of chess pieces without the rooks. Or getting a calendar from 2005. Or buying a toaster. It’s almost useful, but not quite!! RAID support is EVERYWHERE, and I love the confidence of knowing my data is mirrored and striped for blazing fast, and safe, performance. Please consider this for a future HD sale!!

Thanks.

My HD came defective. Gets recognized by bios, but SMART fails and drive does not show up in XP, even in disk managment. Should I contact WD or ask for an RMA
