Westinghouse Flameless LED Candles 4pk
Okay I’m going to see if I can hunt down the answer myself, but how long does the vanilla scent last and is there any way to refill it after it runs out?
From the alternative perspective, is there any way to empty/remove the scent for those of us who are allergic to everything?

(Also, Sylvia has other friends? Woot writers, you never fail to surprise me.)

We recently bought a set which aren’t nearly as nice as these from QVC for over $40. They are also LED vanilla scented. There is no way to refill the vanilla scent-its in the wax so as with any scented candle once its gone its gone. Sorry for the bad news.

I am picking up a set of these to compare them to our others that just arrived, plus these are a little larger diameter wise.

Thanks a lot!

Getting a little personal there, ain’t ya?

Okay TT, That one caught me a little off guard and got a snort out of me:tongue: Congratulations on that.

Silly question. The description says that it is made from real wax. Does the LED get hot enough to melt/deform the candle?
Not at all. Have you ever used a small LED flashlight that attaches to the end of your key chain? It might produce enough heat to be measured in a physics lab, but not anything you could even detect with your skin.

IF these are real wax, then couldn’t you get some vanilla perfume oil and drip a few drops on the wax when the scent fades? That’s been done with “regular” candles for ages.

And, my MIL has a set similar to this (no carving) with a light vanilla scent. The scent has so far lasted for months. I wonder if it actually will last longer than a real candle as the volatiles aren’t being burned away as the candle is melted.

  1. According to a recent Consumer Reports enumeration (perhaps in their health publication–or was it a sidebar to the mattress article in the current issue??)) aroma was found to be effective in promoting sleep by only 6% of people…just thought you’d like to know.

  2. Though they may look pretty good, YOU know they’re fake. Do they still warm your heart? On the other hand, safety has its place, doesn’t it? We need a convocation of Woot philosphers to ponder and find essential truths in all this. Alas, the report won’t be issued by tomorrow midnight so buy now or forever forego this deal.

  3. Westinghouse is not the Westinghouse we or our parents or grandparents knew. It is a licensed name, is it not?
    What is real?
Is this a candle? If not, what is it?

LMAO—if I were more awake, I’d try to formulate some clever responses

Perhaps what seem to be answers will come tonight in our dreams.

so is the “flame” orange ?

the first pic in the day light shows that the candles are white, the second pic (presumably at night) shows that the candles are orange

can someone please explain ?

thanks

Yeah, that’s the trade-off: the scent of the wax will last a long time, but the scent won’t “throw” into the air and spread around the room as much as a burned candle or warmed wax/oil would. Judging by the pics, it looks like it would be easy enough sprinkle a couple of drops of scent oil on the top of the wax part, as long as the oil stays away from the bottom part with the battery.

I’d order these, but where I live is dealing with triple-digit temperatures. I’m afraid I’d open the box to find four candle bases floating in liquefied wax.

Love the design, though.

Too bad these are carved/textured. I might be in for a set if they were smooth cylinders.

You own a knife, don’t you?

If you’re looking for some great pics in action, check this sales site - gives a better idea of height, color when “burning”, etc… I’m getting one! NothingButSavings.com - Product Not Available

I have a ton of chemical sensitivities and can’t be around scents, paints, perfumes, cleaners, air fresheners, candles, etc. I bought a 6 pack of similar candles from Walmart several months ago. They were also vanilla scented. Not an overpowering scent whatsoever and after a couple of weeks, the scent went completely away, so I’d say you are safe with buying these.

The scent does NOT last a long time and turning the candles ON does not help to give off the scent, because they in no way get warm. Both pluses in my book.

Wax shipping in the mid of summer…wonder if I’ll get puddles…:0(

You had me right up until “vanilla scented.”

No, it’s just real wax on the outside.

Keep in mind also, these do not put out much light. I would say these are equivalent to maybe 1/4th the brightness of an exposed flame candle.

I’ve got 4 of these in the bedroom and they make for decent night lights or basic mood lighting without actually giving you the ability to see.

-Sigh- I’m afraid I’m defeated. Until someone tells me otherwise I’m going to assume there is no way of “refilling” the vanilla scent. How long did your scent last Ericy321?
Unfortunately mine were unscented so I can’t help.
