What type of flooring is in your main living room?

Dirt. Mostly. I think thereâs hardwood under there, but Iâm in no mood to find out right now.
Friday will be Wootâs Flooring Depot launch! Tells us what you have today, so we can help you change it in the near future when the shipping containers are unpacked.

Luxury vinyl plank. It was there when I moved in. Nothing beats ceramic tile though.
lava

Itâs carpet except the entrance square.
I like it that way

âMainâ living room, okay, woot is acting like Iâve multiple living rooms⌠sorry, multiple rooms**
I assume the structural âflooringâ is OSB or similar particle board.

But that is covered by carpetâŚ

Blood-stained tatami mat isnât an option.
At least the demonic hellspawn cat doesnât mind!

Concrete covered by engineered wood of some sort, so I put laminate. We have a few rugs.

Itâs laminate over real wood that I installed myself ![]()

Wood, and it is all face nailed with cut nails so when I wanted to refinish it I got several rejections from professionals because of the nails. Then my neighbor who did a lot of contracting work for me had his flooring guy visiting and he said there is no way it canât be sanded, he looked and then said âI was wrong, this has to be either removed or done by handâ It took a month of nights and weekends and a whole lot of sandpaper, but I am really happy with the result.
There are around 750 cut nails in the living room and dining room floor and before I applied the finish I put bluing on every single one so they would not rust. It took about 5 minutes to do and it was a really nice touch that makes those nails really look good.
100 year old hardwood. With a large rug on top of it.

I actually have 2 âmain living roomsâ. The front one I call âthe parlorâ, originally had hardwood, but a previous owner had a shower stall overflow which went unnoticed for a while - so when I pulled up the carpet in there a few years ago, I discovered hardwood but also plywood.
Once the carpet was removed, the new flooring was laid - I think, engineered hardwood⌠Iâm not sure what youâd call it. Something along those lines.
The other âmain living roomâ is an add-on at the back of the house - added on by a previous owner and much larger than the parlor, and where the TV is, etc. That room still has carpet. Thatâll be the next flooring I replace - with new carpet.

According to my little grandson, it is lava.
The entire first floor is oak. The small room over the garage is carpet over pine.
Our main floor is all open.. living room, dining room, and kitchen all run together. The house was built in 2006, and we bought it in 2012. The living room had crappy low-pile carpet that was pretty beat up from old owners/tenants.. and the dining room & kitchen had actual linoleum. I thought they stopped putting that in new home builds back in the 80s.
Anyway, we ripped it all out and replaced the entire floor with laminate from Costco. Itâs so much better now.
