Thereâs Def. Some things I wait to do on a laptop or bigger computer that I donât want to do on my phone. Would rather have both with me all the time

HD-DVD for me. I have a drive that canât read them now. I donât know if itâs a Windows 11 thing or if they have deteriorated.
Actually I donât go all in on technology. I wait until just before itâs obsolete to invest in it.
Bought HD DVD player instead of Blu Ray.


What have i not gone all in on only to have that format or medium disappear? You live long enough all the stuff around your house is obsolete. ![]()
I have two zunes and a zune HD, and bought my father one, and both of us zune docks for our offices. Mine is still in mine. He has since escaped the workforce and probably scrapped his.
Mini disc player. I loved that little thing. One AA battery lasted a long time and you could jam a ton of music onto one small disc.
Sony minidisk! I really wanted that tech to stick around a lot longer. I had the portable and the home audio piece.

They kind of doomed themselves at introduction with their pricing. It was $600 for the home recorder, $300 for a portable player, and the blank discs cost $15 â in a time when CDs were $12 retail from the likes of Sam Goody and Tower Records. Its market were those with a lot of money and wanted to do âmix tapesâ â but not on tape.
Sonyâs partner from the CDs created a different âCD replacementâ in the form of the Digital Compact Cassette. Philips introduced it around the same time too, but had an even shorter presence in the marketplace.
Both MD and DCC used âlossyâ compression formats, which meant they were unsuitable for studio production work that DAT was getting popular in.
