What kind of communication? If we aren’t dialoguing and just giving one-sided status update, I prefer text or quick call. That goes for close friend and family. If we are dialoguing, then we ware sitting down face to face over a beverage or meal.

Depends on the friend and how long it’s been since I’ve communicated with them. Nothing beats face-to-face, though. Not by a long shot.

I am sorry to admit that I don’t have any close friends anymore. I used to have several but they either passed away, or we drifted apart over time.
However, I am an internationally active teacher who regularly communicates with students worldwide. Are some friends? Yes, I have developed close relationships with many but it feels more like student/teacher. No matter because I am very happy to help anyone struggling with their career. I have had the wonderful opportunity to help many professional musicians save their careers and livelihood. There were many who helped me save mine!

My close friends do not live nearby, so we text frequently. We do speak on the phone occasionally, but (sadly) rarely see each other face to face.

Kinda depends on wehre the friend is as many of use are miles apart. So texting and other online forms of communications work. Calls for important and longer conversations; especially with family.
