It was such BS. I got it for not entirely stopping at a stop sign…at an intersection that was closed to crossing traffic due to construction. It was basically just a straight road with a stop sign for (temporarily) no reason.

It has been a long time - 34 years. I was at fault in an auto accident and was issued both careless driving and reckless driving tickets. My court date was postponed twice and the third time, the issuing officer did not show up. The judge dropped those 2 tickets and gave me a choice between “too fast for conditions” or “improper lane usage”. I picked the latter since I believe that spinning wildly out of control into the opposite lane of traffic and being hit by an oncoming car was the epitome of improper!!

The last time I got a ticket it was written in Latin and they impounded my horse.

We have so many laser-photo speeding trap units planted at so many expected and unexpected locations, that avoiding speeding tickets became virtually impossible. I am not a crazy driver, yet I “manage” to net something every every 2-3 years.
Those tickets do not affect driving records, but they are a substantial chunk of municipal revenue

It’s been like 6 years since I was pulled over for speeding and given a warning because the officer recognized the neighborhood I lived in from my driver’s license

TLDR; I did stuff, but I’m a good boy now.
I used to get speeding tickets all the time. Especially when I lived in Texas. I had to show up in court for so many speeding tickets. When I moved to Missouri, I once attended a rock concert, and on my way home I spotted a cop a couple blocks behind me. I immediately slowed down, he followed a little further before turning on his lights. He was clearly having a bad night. I failed 2 of the 3 sobriety tests despite only having had water to drink. I couldn’t walk a straight line or follow the tip of his pen. A mosh pit will do that to you. Thankfully, the breathalyzer test was also offered, and I passed with flying colors. I ended up with a ticket for going 42 mph in a 30 mph zone despite us being the only 2 cars on the road at 12:45am. That was my last ticket over 15 years ago. My record was heading back from Enchanted Rock at the age of 19. I was going caught going 98mph in a 60 zone with 4 passengers, and didn’t have my driver’s license on me. Not the fastest I’ve ever driven, but I won’t get into the time I snuck out in the the middle of the night to drive to Disneyland, and made it back to San Pedro before my parents woke up. I e slowed down a lot since having to pay my own car insurance, gas, and having bought a hybrid car. That and the cops in my city have been instructed to ignore “minor infractions.” Sometimes they’ll flash their lights to get people to slow down, but they almost never pull anyone over unless the vehicle has been reported as stolen or suspected as having an abducted child or suspect. As a result, people drive crazy here. I’ve been in 4 accidents, had 2 cars totaled by people not paying attention, and have finally wisened up, and installed a dash cam.
