Which smell unlocks childhood the fastest?

Freshly baked pies made from scratch, German walnut bread baking in the oven, fresh caught fried lingcod, dipped in eggs and then cornmeal and pan fried. Fresh linguicia on the grill, Knockwurst from Stephens sausage company is San Jose, redwood forests, and the smells of salt air and frying corndogs on the boardwalk

Paste and construction paper…
Leaded auto exhaust, except you never smell it these days.
Crayons, always and every time.
School bus seats. I don’t think they ever get cleaned…
Play-Doh…
Protein powder has improved a lot over the years. However, I still managed to buy a brand whose vanilla smells and tastes of straight-up Play-Doh (half of tasting is smelling). I probably need to throw it out because I’m unable to finish it. It takes a lot of effort to make something where the flavor and smell don’t come through. So, if you are a Play-Doh connoisseur, I can either get you the brand to purchase or send you mine.

P.S. I checked my emails for where I bought the protein powder (because who is scrolling through Woot’s order history if it isn’t on the first page). Yes, my suspicions were confirmed that I bought it from here, and it wasn’t supposed to be a BOC or gimmick. Thanks, Woot, for the disappointment.
Wet mimeograpgh paper. The purple inked paper from elementary school.

Came here to answer that and use the gif. Too late!
Mr. Sketch scented markers. Man, those things smelled so good…there’s no way they weren’t bad for us somehow!

Mine is air. Not any air, but the air of one day. It was Jan 4, 1974. My mom, dad and I were traveling to Florida. My niece was due at anytime. The first grandchild, and me, an 8 YO uncle!
We left from Central Delaware 24 hours earlier. It was bitterly cold and snowing. As we headed south, the snow ended.
That morning was at breakfast at a Stucky’s in North Carolina. The sun was up, the air, cool and moist, having breakfast outside on the patio. A perfect morning. The air was so perfect. For an 8 YO, trying to absorb the reality of spring in January was a lot on the abstract.
My niece was born the next day.
My childhood was WAY different than y’alls!
My childhood was sulfur, potassium nitrate… you know… gunpowder. Then there was model cement, enamel paints, solder fumes, gasoline, grease, 3-in-one oil, high voltage ozone…
I don’t know kind of childhood Y’ALL had, but mine was WAY better!

This mother’s giggly laughter and continued filming as the diaper literally drips and leaks on her carpet suggests she is near Dissociation. Oh wait …that was an earlier thread.

Freshly made pastry dough. Both my mother and grandmother would make fruit pies from scratch. All of them would start with a pie dough kneaded, rolled out, cut, and pinched.
