Whistler SRT-35R Radar and Laser Detector

The KC metro’s Villa Bella is the Village of Oakwood – cop sits there every stinkin’ day…nice blurb writing once again.

Blah, read the stars wrong, only got three at radartest…

here’s a review

(Mod’s note: The text below refers to a different model addressed in the review.)
5 stars

"Bottom line: Best-in-class overall performance–by an order of magnitude–and way beyond what we’d expect for the price. A steal at 99 bucks.

Rating: Beltronics Whistler SRT-35 ($79.99)

bought the last radar detector in the wootoff… has already saved my ass

I dont know anything about this one

my friend has this it works pretty well but freaks out when you drive by stores with the security things by there door
~JOE~

Villa Bella = Addison

Only four?

Finally…a woot that lets you “stick it to Da Man!”. Or at least let you know when “Da Man” is trying to stick it to you.

IF you pass gas in a car with one of these the thing starts beeping and yelling “Road hazard!”

they had these in the clearance BUCKET at compusa for $15.99. bahahhaha

Whistler SRT-35R

The Whistler SRT-35R is a handsome piece with an artfully sculpted top plate and a big red text display. The downside to the shiny upper case is a substantial amount of windshield glare. On a highway trip we’d elect to toss a black cloth over the top to eliminate it.

For the price, this model has some features usually found on more expensive units. There are three City modes, for example, to lower or shut off X band entirely, a good move in noisy urban environments to cut down on false alarms.

Band ID and signal strength are depicted by big red letters and digitally, 1 through 9, leaving no doubt about what type of radar is being encountered. Audio band ID is excellent and superior to the BEL’s.

What the hell… waited 3 hours for this… What a piece of crap.
Best radar detectors out there are Valentine One and Escort 8500 X50. I own an X50 and it’s outstanding.

Don’t buy cheap radar detectors. Cops have detection systems for cheap radars…

radar test gave it decent reviews for radars under $100

I’m thinking about getting a car…would this be good?

creepiest ever podcast!!! Yikes.

I’m pretty sure you just posted the results of the BEL Express 795. The Whistlers only have 1/3 the range of the BEL in the KA band:

“Sensitivity on X and K bands is superb on both models, nearly equal to the BEL Express 795. But they faltered on the all-important Ka band, averaging 10,101 feet (SRT-30R) and 11,982 feet (SRT-35R), barely a third of the leading BEL’s range.”

But you ARE the man . . . ?

Wow! Sold a few!!!

Actually, any radar detector is better than NO radar detector if you’re driving through Princeton, NJ and exceeding the 25 mph limit. Get caught doing 32 and you’re toast.

Thats what it sounds like to me, too. They sure as heck like to pass out the tickets there, and they aren’t cheap.

You are quoting the wrong section. That review belongs to a BEL detector, not the Whistler.
