Ive been using this for several days now with a JVC KW-M560BT that i just installed. It has wired android auto and i wanted to try wireless. So far this has worked perfectly with my Galaxy S20.
Does it only connect via wifi? I can’t get it to connect over Bluetooth… And when it connects over wifi my phone says it has no internet connection because the wifi is only connecting to the device…
I feel like I did something wrong… Sadface.
I can’t speak to this exact device, but what you describe is how most of these work. They use BT for initial connection, then handoff to wifi (BT couldnt support all the data transmission & speed required of Android Auto.)
Technically the units to not supply internet, hence the warning, but you’d be getting the data from your cellular connection anyway, unless you’re using some kind of wifi hotspot built into ur car, in which case this will not work properly, because your phone likely can’t be connected to two wifi points simultaneously.
First, in your phone, go to Settings>Apps and see if you have Android Auto in the list. I think I had to download it for my Galaxy S20.
Do you meet the requirements?
-Already have wired Android Auto in the vehicle
-Android phone with at least Android 11 (it says android phones like Huawei, Xiaomi, etc. are not supported)
I used the NFC method for the connection process. Now, my phone automatically connects and launches Android Auto when I get in the vehicle and the device powers up. My phone deosn’t show the little wifi symbol at the top like when it’s normally connected to wifi, but in the settings under connections it does list the device under wifi.
