Wolfgang Puck 1.5 Cup VersaCooker One-Touch Personal Cooker

according to the manual, 1.5 is the dry measure for the rice. Equal to 3 cups cooked… sounds like plenty and then some for me, as a nice hot lunch!

In for a red one. Will be good for those sushi cravings.

I bought it for my niece who is away at college. I know she’ll love it. The perfect companion to her Widdle Griddle that I gave her when she went off to college.

I’m not impressed. This is nothing more than a hyped up rice cooker. They work by monitoring the temperature of the contents. Once it get hotter than 212F, the pot stops cooking because it indicates that all the water has been absorbed, At 200W, it’s underpowered (takes longer to boil). For approximately the same price, you can get a larger 400W 3 cup model (6 cups cooked), with a see through glass lid and steaming rack, We got one from Rival for only $4.99 but that was a special sale.

Red or black, red or black…

I know! I will get a Red AND a Black one, and give one to my brother. Crisis averted!

Canadian video, eh?

was $29.99 Canadian, mostly good reviews.

  1. Isn’t sushi made of mostly raw foods? This really wouldn’t help.

  2. This may not be that great for sushi rice, which may have slight different cooking instructions from normal long grain rice. You wold probably be better off with a electric stovetop ($9.99) and normal pot.

This would work great for dorm rooms or someone like my nieces.

Drat, woot. I may have to buy this for them for xmas.

Keep in mind that this is not 3 ordinary 8 oz cups. Asians use a much smaller cup to measure rice, and that’s what’s used to make the markings inside the pot, as well as rate the pot’s capacity.

Also, this is generally too small to boil most pastas which needs room for the pasta to float in the water.

As I read it is 3 cups of cooked rice in the end.

If only I had a college student on my christmas list. I think this and some ramen noodles would make a great gift.

Do you mean these products? The ratings don’t look that great:

Sushi rice should cook up just fine in this little rice cooker. I’m Asian, and I don’t know how to cook rice WITHOUT a rice cooker. (And I use the time-honored “thumb method” to measure how much water is needed.)

So, Woot, the 1.5 cup description is inaccurate. Manual says it turns 1.5 cups raw rice into 3 cups cooked,

I don’t need another appliance, but I can’t help but think of reasons why I need one of these at my desk (where I take my meals more and more often).

Confucius Say, Soggy Rice doesn’t taste nice

Hi, My name is Bill and I’m a WOOT addict!

The last thing I do “EVERY” night before I nod off, is to check WOOT.

I purchased a set of headphones here (X31’s). They arrive tomorrow, can’t wait.

Tonight I purchased the 1.5 cup cooker. The way its going I will be having some thing from WOOT arriving every week for a while.

Some body help me!!!

Another use besides rice:
I love to have steel-cut oatmeal for breakfast every day, but it takes longer to cook than reg. oatmeal. I have been putting it in my crockpot at night before bed, and enjoying it in the morning. But many times it is just me who wants it; this seems perfect for those times!

Ah! But which one will you give and which one will you keep?

No. IN fact, at 200W, this doesn’t get hot enough to do things like saute foods so you’re basically limited to water based cooking, i,e. boiling. With a more powerful rice cooker (most are 400w-800w), you can do some rudimentary stir frying and sauteing as well. This is also too small to include a steaming rack, which I find helpful (you can steam/warm other foods at the same time rice is cooking).

Give us the credit card, and you’ll be all right. You won’t be buying any more stuff,…

If you look at the picture (or the video), you’ll see that the top marking in the removable cooking vessel says 1.5 Cup.
