Neil, great idea, need to include Woodenhead’s tasting room in the next few Wine.Woot! day tripping…very much enjoying this prestigious Zinfandel.

I think Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley are fascinating. Surely due to all the Pinot Noir focus in the region combined with the cooler climate - both play such a significant role in the finesse of the wine.

I don’t believe Scott’s Old Vine Reserve Zinfandel is anything other then old vine Zin (no port or anything like that for sure). It’s an old school/style Zin, not a bombastic fruit grenade.

Lately the Chronicle on invino has been Pinot Noir.

Living 40 minutes from SF, I think I may well go to ZAP this year, although the thought of hordes of people, and long lines to taste Zin are unappealing.

I also thought not too, but tried it recently with friends. Look on the label. There’s port or something else in it, though less than in the mountain selection. Talking of Scott, when I went to research the exact composition of his OV Zin, he’s doing a 50% off Monday only offer on 4 reds including the 1869… and an OV Jana Zin I wasn’t aware of!

Greetings folks, Zina here at Woodenhead checking in. I am enjoying a taste of this delicious Zinfandel right now! Nik said silky and it is very smooth. I am pairing it right now with a soft ripened cheese topped with walnuts and dried cranberries. Yum.

that sounds lovely… though 99% dry reds go well with cheese! What else might you pair it with?
Length, tannins, layers, fruit, bite? Love to have some in-depth tasting notes!
