A two pound bag of Coffee with an list Price of $40 on sale for $27.99? Please show me any point in time when anyone actually sold this single 2 pound bag of coffee for $40???
Woot used to be where we found deals on items… you know… discounts off of real prices.
Now you simply lie to us and still manage to sleep at night.
Most coffee I buy is $14 for 12 oz, which breaks out to nearly $19/lb. Intelligentsia or Zingermans, very good stuff. $20 per lb for small batch coffee isn’t bad pricing. I’m assuming this is small batch since they’re not Folgers or Maxwell house… but idk the criteria for qualifying.
Any idea on when this was roasted, or if it’s going to be roasted on demand as you order it? It doesn’t look like a terrible deal for the bean/washing process but I also have no clue who the roaster is which is pretty important.
If they’re still using the same roaster it should be Smokin Aces Coffee Company. The bag I got during the Birthday Woot Off on 7/12 has a hand written roast date on the back of 7/21. It shipped 7/23 and was at my office on 7/26.
It smells delicious.
I’ve gotten 2 other bags through Woot (Squid Ink and Buzz Bru) and both have come with similar time lines.
One of the previous times this was posted stated it was supplied by Smokin’ Aces Coffee. Most of their stuff sells for $15-$16 for at 12 oz bag, which is about $21 a pound. This is a good deal on what should be some pretty good coffee.
Wowzer… is this a joke? I have multiple local roasters in my area that come in WAY cheaper than that for some great roasts and blends. Most whole beans in the area are $8-14 based on varieties. Here you get a random coffee with a Woot! sticker and that’s enough to justify this price? I’ll stick to enjoying the local bean of the day at $10/lb. At least I know those are relatively fresh. This may also have been in the warehouse for a few months.
Edit: ThunderThighs has clarified that these are roasted to order.
