I use wyze cams, they are alright. there is a new pan cam v3 that is rated for outdoors, and it’s only about $33+shipping, they also have the new 20ish dollar cams, and I think they have another one or two cameras they will be releasing soon that will be better than this camera at a similar price. All in all, I wouldn’t consider this to be a good deal.
While Wyze does have cheaper cams, keep in mind that this, and the V1 Wyze Cam Outdoor, are both battery-powered and can be paired with the available solar panel. I have a bunch of their cams and these battery-powered cams are really nice when running wires for power just isn’t a practical option. If you already have the base station for outdoor cams, a savings of $16 ain’t too shabby!
Now I am confused. Can this Wyze camera as well as V.3 which is on sale this week on the mothership work without a Wyze base station? Or can it be used with any router for Wifi.
Cloud saves? Subscription needed?
Thanks.
This is a wireless camera and requires the base station. The other camera is wired and does not require the base station. No subscription necessary on this (or any Wyze cam). Detailed specs can be found here:

The newer Wyze Cams require a paid subscription for cloud storage. They can otherwise be used with an sd card for storage without a subscription. This applies to the cameras released after the V3 model. That plus the fact that this camera has a built in battery that works for about 3 months on a charge. The battery is not removable, so the entire camera has to be dismounted for charging. This camera also has a unique travel mode that allows connecting directly to your phone over it’s own wifi, for use anywhere away from your home wifi.
have two of these off on my property. the solar panel ($25 from their site) is a must. never have to go out and charge them up.
Thanks very much!
I really wish these didn’t use a base station. Seems pointless. And if you get too far from the station, but are still within your mesh wifi area, the camera has a bad connection, where the wired V3 will connect just fine. Also limits you to 4 cameras per base. Makes no sense.
the pan cam v3 requires a power outlet, this one has a built-in battery and available solar panel and does not require a power cord. this one can go where the corded one can’t.
This isnt a deal at all. This is actually more than normal. I just bought the V3 Pan for $35 Amazon should be ashamed of themselves
[MOD: Nope. See posts below.]
But… you can buy their solar charger for these outdoor cams and never have to bring them in for charging.
That not the same as this. This can be used where you don’t have access to an outlet for power.
It’s an energy usage issue, these use far less energy while connected to the base station as opposed to being connected to Wi-Fi.
This is a completely different camera that retails for $63.99 direct from Wyze.
got two in today, paired up with my base station (4 max). working fine. saved some money. now i need to grab 2 more solar panels. happy me.
