Ugg - just put 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol in one of these same pumps and not only are you saving money, you won’t have any residue on your hands at all.
I also never understood why hand sanitizers use ethyl alcohol, but I guess that’s why there’s all those stories about alcoholics drinking it. I just looked it up and they’re allowed to use isopropyl, so maybe… I don’t even want to think about it.
I think hand sanitizers use denatured ethyl alcohol. This means it has slight impurities in it that render it undrinkable both via taste and via gastric effects.
Isopropyl alcohol based compounds can be effective. I’m not sure why they are less common in hand sanitizer. In any case the vehicle (other ingredients) are important to keep it from evaporating so fast in the bottle and on your hands. Contact time matters.
