Are they powered or do they need an amplifier to make sound?

Hi “rvockroth” as the specs list a 6 ohm impedance it indicates that these are not powered speakers. You will need an external amplifier, AV receiver, or similar to amplify your source and drive these speakers.

Type in the model name on Google Image Search and you can see the back of the speaker, including the red and black terminals for connecting to your amp’s output. Best regards, and have a great Friday!

Hi Hazard, well most of us aren’t 'lectrical engineers, so 6 ohms means about as much as saying these are white.

Your receiver puts out sound and wattage per channel matched per the ohm (resistance of your speaker electrical circuit). Some receivers can do different Ohm ranges, some can’t. They all put out different power at different Ohm ranges. Check your receiver or amplifier.
