Yamaha ATS-2090 Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer

Yamaha ATS-2090 Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer

This is a great deal on a good sounding soundbar. I like that you can control it with your phone. WiFi setup was easy. I paid $240 for this :-/

In the Amazon reviews, one person says if you don’t have a 4k TV, you have to route this thru a firestick. Is this true?

@wasserkapf I don’t see how that could be true. The soundbar has HDMI passthrough for 4K, but not Dolby Vision. HDR10 seems to work just fine. So if your TV is DV capable you’ll want to run your streaming device directly to your TV, then run HDMI (ARC) from TV to soundbar. I have mine setup this way and have no issues.

It sounded odd to me too. This is for my GF’s TV & I don’t know if it supports ARC (it’s a cheapie). I am not very fond of devices that need an app to setup/control either, as apps can quickly become obsolete. But I think I’ll roll the dice & get one anyway.

Howdy!

The Owner’s Manual, pg. 18 indicates the soundbar supports ARC. And the soundbar itself has two HDMI ports, marked IN and OUT(ARC). However, I have an older TV so I don’t use ARC.

You don’t need the app to control the soundbar; you can use the little remote. It has all the features. Using the app allows you to see the settings more clearly than the tiny indicator lights on the soundbar.

I’m delighted with this soundbar. It replaces an earlier Yamaha model without a subwoofer. More than the added bass, though, the CLEAR VOICE feature is amazing, and much improved. I watched some MNF last night, and setting the soundbar to Sports and Clear Voice pushed the commentary far forward so I can hear it without straining. (The Peyton-cast is more enjoyable, of course.)

If you have hearing loss, or a noisy environment, this soundbar will make a world of difference. It’s among the best purchases I made this year. (I bought a renewed one from AMZ for $200.)

P.S. You can turn-off the Alexa microphone with a button. I did this because I have two Echo Studios and an Echo Sub in the same room to play music, and you can’t rename the soundbar to “Computer” or whatever.

Is the 2 year manufacter warranty correct?

Yes. Any reason you ask?

My subwoofer is lack luster at best. I will be contacting Yamaha in the morning to see about a warranty replacement.

Sorry for the problems with the Subwoofer. Also remember that our holiday returns run through January 31.

Thanks. I haven’t been able to set this up yet. My girlfriend has the spot under the TV filled with Christmas crap. I got this specifically because I watch The Green Bay Packer games with her. She better get rid of that christmas crap before next Sunday’s game!
