I’m getting mine for my wife’s car. She had a Escort QI45 in her old car but w/ the new one, it’s a lot trickier to mount. I’m running a V1 in my car and I have to say, those arrows are worth the price. I know some Belscort folks laugh at V1 “zombies” for saying that…but they can really help you distinguish real threats. I may run this for a while, though, before I give it to my wife just b/c I’ve always lusted after the 9500ix…
I have both the GX65 and the Passport 9500iX, and also a Bel STi Magnum (stealth) and a escort ZR4 laser shifter.
With the exception of the GPS signal memory between manual lockout (Bel) and auto (Escort) both are identical.
Caution to all that these units do go bad for strange reason at least with my passport 9500iX that was 16 months old. Started to give me powering down failure ended up having to send it in and pay a ~140 fee to Escort and get the unit refurbished. There was no explanation from mfg other than units can go bad, couple that with a standard warranty extension program, I’d say they are BS me to the bank.
Redlight camera warning is kinda cool to warn you of those pest money sucking scams from local cities. Aways freaks passenger out that have not ridden with system. Helps from running that yellow-red signal, or rolling stop right turn through the light.
Over all when they work, the work fine , the 9500ix and zr4 are in my sports car and the gx65 is mounted in my sedan and both give me good warning when mounted properly for early detection. Most of my driving is along the same stretch of road so they do help. I get laser false warning all the time with the right time of day and the right combination of cars reelecting the light back to the laser warning system so be aware. I do mount my unit higher up ( they sit on a rear view mirror mount) so laser detection is not quite as effective. Best laser detection is somewhere around your license plate since that is the area that the laser/lidar gun will focus on for best signal gathering back to the gun.

Where I live NONE of the police use lasers. And I already own one of these detectors (and my dad owns the other one) and they also have laser alerts. This detector has saved me MANY times, but like other people have said, it’s just a tool to assist you. Awareness is still the key.
