These are made with 420 stainless but nowhere to be found is which 420 stainless they use. The 2 main types are 420j2 [cheap and soft] and 420hc [cheap and a bit harder]. Its impossible to know if these are junk or not without knowing the metal and the tempering they are made with.

Yukon Customer service says the axe is 420hc steel.

You`ll need an AR15 for that, but the mountain tool is not bad at all.
