had similar experience. Mine still works - but only just barely. Had 3 modes - high/low and strobe. Unfortunately these modes will randomly switch while trying to use it. Impossible to use while in strobe mode for anything but blinding yourself. I guess would still work to bash someones head in.
Maybe you would be happier with this one then: Wal-Mart Bat Light. It uses 4 AA batteries and is cheaper although not as bright as the Woot! offering. (according to [MOD])
Seriously? You’re going to blind someone with the equivalent of a 30W light bulb? Good luck with that, you’re going to be awfully disappointed depending on that for any sort of self defense.
@ bmdresq,
Wow, seriously!? Sorry to hear of your experience and if no one has contacted you yet, please reach out to use at customerservice@yukon-outfitters.com also check your PM on here.
We’ve made some internal upgrades, smashed some bugs, and are proud of this improved version. The lanyard is also a fun addition that’s super useful. Apologize again for any inconvenience and please let us make it up to you!
Police Mag Light is the best flashlight I’ve ever owned…
Eight C cells, simple on/off and spot/flood.
Will crack open a coconut or open a car/truck window with one easy swing/blow…
Only brighter for the first 1/3rd to half of the runtime because it has a (cheap) flaw, in using 3 x C cells with a buck driver so LED brightness continues to drop as battery voltage falls below LED Vf.
Granted, it will run a lot longer than the linked 4 x AA design, and yet I’d still prefer it.
Because AA!
Eneloops for the win.
Completely wrong. In the dark, something 1/4th this brightness is plenty to blind someone if focused at their eyes.
Granted, it’s hard to aim it at their eyes and beat them with it at the same time, so be quick about it.
