How do I know my files are totally and completely safe in this online database?
Sounds like sourcery.
Why not just buy a cheaper drive elsewhere, and set up an FTP server?
How high-speed is the online storage space?
According to their homepage, it costs about $65.98 every year.
Multiple plans available though. Prices are in Euro’s.
I hate to say it, but shipping kills this deal unless you’re buying three. Perhaps Woot! needs to come up with a $0.99 shipping option for something that can fit in an envelope?
Also, there’s no speed rating listed. Speed makes a huge difference in whether a flash drive is a good deal at a particular price point.
Oh, and the online storage is pointless, as it’s only free for six months.
About $5 a month after 6 months.
Well the flash drive is clearly female…
Why buy the one at Sellout.Woot? You can twice the space here for less than twice the price!
Gives me a 503 error.
The only question worth asking on this deal. Anyone?
If it was free for life? I’d be in for 2.
As it stands, I’ll stick with my 32 gig flash drive (paid 30 dollars for it last Black Friday) and my 64 gig flash drive. I’m not paying a monthly rate to do data hosting, since that’s the real draw to this product, not the 8 gig thumb drive.
You don’t.
Do not use the online service. Plenty of these fly by night services have folded. If you insist on using storage use rsync.net (professional grade). Or Mozy if you don’t care so much (consumer grade).
These people are subsidizing USB sticks (or just selling them) to advertise an online storage product that is done better by others. Not a good business plan.
Worst of all, you have to transfer your data to Europe. Why would you pay for your information to be stored in a place where you don’t have the rights of a citizen and where it’s slower?
I might just buy this…it comes with a lanyard!
ummm, check deals.woot it’s like the 3rd from the bottom for 12.99 or something. The deals are out there you’ve just gotta look!
I have seen a ton of deals for around that price as well.
They ship plasma tvs for $5 too. Quit whining.
I’m curious, if they lose your data in the online storage area, is there some sort of a guarantee they can recover it?
From the website:

Here’s where I found the costs for the plans. It’s in Euros.
edited to correct my mistake regarding it being in Euros not pounds.
