Buyer beware…
I’ve ordered a few Fire tablets from Woot in the last few years and gave one to my father. A few weeks ago, his tablet became deactivated and he was unable to run any of his purchased apps. I tried multiple times to reactivate the tablet with his account, and then my account - each time I got a message that my account was not recognized.
I then contacted Amazon support. The representative informed me that the owner of the tablet had just contacted them the day before to report that his tablet was lost. (This is about 2 years after I had purchased the tablet!) Naturally, they flag the serial number as stolen and this prevents me from activating it. He then tells me that I should contact the company that sold it to me. I did! Amazon’s representative had never heard of Woot! and thought they sold me stolen property! I couldn’t convince him that Woot! was an Amazon company.
So now I’m stuck with a tablet that I cannot use. I ended up giving my dad my old tablet. I hope your experience goes better.
The Amazon rep couldn’t just Google Woot to find out it’s actually owned by Amazon? How strange. You might try to get another rep, maybe on the phone, to see if someone else has better information.
I’m sorry that happened to you and your father.
(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)
I will try again sometime. My tablet is working well for him, and this is the only tablet that was deactivated
Something went seriously wrong here. Hopefully this is a very unusual case. I recall having to go through this process once before, and the tech at that time was able to check the woot order and verify my purchase
Contact Woot support. I had the same thing happen with a ring doorbell I bought from Woot - it was well after the return window - like a year later - and they refunded it.
The Black Friday price for a brand new current model was $80. I can’t see paying $60 for a used four-year-old model.
Brand new ones are $80 today, and the specs are better and battery life better. Pay the extra $20 bucks!
For the 10" version?
A brand new 32 gb Fire HD 10 with lockscreen ads is $150 right now.
Remember that the 2017 10 inch tablet as seen here is based on a forked version of Android 5 (Lollipop). Many apps no longer support Lollipop so this tablet is rapidly becoming obsolete. Like buying today a computer with Windows 7.
That’s about what I paid for mine a year and a half ago on E-Bay.
I never use it, however, it does run fine for Portal Bridge Constructor.
In retrospect, I would not buy a tablet as I just don’t use it.
Hi there. I’m sorry for the problem with Amazon CS. Tell them to scroll to the bottom of the Amazon page and see that Woot is a subsidiary.
If still not luck, reach out to Woot customer service.
