Now THIS is the kinda stuff I like to see. Lost all my old gaming collection in a fire last year so I can’t use these, but would love to see more stuff like this posted!
I could use these, but 4 bucks each for an acrylic box still seems kind of steep.
Wow, people still remember the Sega Saturn that aren’t on a classic console Reddit thread (or GameFAQs)
$4 for a custom long acrylic sleeve is a pretty decent price. The mothership usually sells them (from Xiguage, not Limited Run) at $6 a pop. Etsy usually has them at $10~25 each (but comes with foam cut-out, printer artwork, and/or multiple sleeves for multi-disc games – some even come with bootlegs). eBay offers the best price, at $2 per sleeve, for some … well, the quality on these were pretty bad to begin with. The original NTSC-U cases were large and brittle, a terrible combination already; stress marks on the front and easily snapped hinges were just commonplace. The PAL cases were cardboard and after so many open-close motions, splinter like a worn booklet. The NTSC-J games all used standard square audio CD cases which weren’t as flashy, but were small enough to handle stress better and were easily replaceable due thanks to the audio industry using the same dimensions.

I again think this is a nice deal for a niche product for collectors who have to have the exact dimensions to fit their manuals or to show off as a coffee table piece (some of the artwork was nice and large, like Rayearth). Personally, I dislike that the cases were so large and flimsy by design. It’s reminiscent of a delicate VHS tape, rather than a clunky (but durable) Nintendo cartridge.
