When younger, I always associated these candies with old folks and kinda chuckled and declined if offered one. Fast forward, and not only do I enjoy the taste, I offer them to folks when I have some on-hand.
I hope to never eat ‘old folk’ candy again. My grandmother’s dish seemed to always be full, and in retrospect, I think it was the same pieces year after year.
