Lol. And a 2000 Thread Count. That some members seem to think isn’t possible and is only a marketing ploy.

Hey y’all - long-time sheet snob here. Make sure you read the fine print in the description for these sheets. They are not 100% cotton, they are “54% premium Egyptian quality cotton and 46% durable high strength polyester.” That’s OK if you’re looking for sheets that won’t be used often - for, say, a guest room. But synthetic fibers can make you “sleep warm”, will fall apart over multiple washings, and will have a tendency to rip easily - same as most sheets sold as “cotton-rich.” YMMV.

If you want high quality sheets that will last for 10-15 years and get softer with every wash, buy 100% cotton (either Egyptian or Supima cotton) sheets that are at least 400tc, preferably as high a thread count as you can afford. And pick sheets with a sateen weave, if you really want an amazing silky-soft feel.

TL;dr - these aren’t 100% Egyptian cotton sheets, and the thread count is horsepucky. Caveat emptor.

hey, I’m sorry you’re so triggered you feel the need to mention me later on a totally different sale, but what I said was that 1800 thread count sheets would be “dense, almost papery” due to the amount of thread per square inch. which is true. high thread count sheets are sold for durability and often say right in the marketing how they will soften up with repeated washing (instead of becoming threadbare and ripping like lower TC sheets do as they wear out), and that listing was for “lightweight, soft sheets”, which is because they’re microfiber, AND they didn’t even use the word thread, because they kinda can’t. microfiber sheets have their own completely arbitrary definition of what constitutes TC and it’s not equivalent to cotton or traditional yarn measurements. weird flex, buddy.

so uh gg for totally owning me, I guess

Neovartan, I’ve got a set of queen 1000tc Egyptian cotton sheets that were given to my parents as a wedding gift… in 1960. My mom gave them to me in the 1990s, and I’ve had them in the regular rotation since. They are so, so soft, and it is a joy to just lie on them. I’m just beginning to notice some wear around the edges from all the washing over the years, but the sheets have maybe another 5 or 10 years of use left in them. I’ll be bummed when they finally need to be retired; I can’t afford to replace them. I’ll have to settle for “lesser” sheets - maybe 600tc. (lol)

As a side note, if anyone reading is interested in trying high thread count sheets without the heinous price tag, check your local thrift shops, especially church-run thrift stores. I’ve bought some truly exquisite sheets at Goodwill and Salvation Army for between $2-ish and $10-ish per sheet, and the best part is they’re already washed to butter-softness. You may not find a matching set, but white sheets are white sheets, right? Ask one of the older ladies working at the thrift shop for help, if you’re unsure about which of the sheets in stock are the nicest/best sheets in the store.

If you still have a Tuesday Morning in your area, you can also check them. They occasionally get the high thread count sheets in at good prices.

Reading these sheets with a skeptical mind, has got me wondering:

Is “Egyptian Quality Cotton” the same as “Egyptian Cotton”?

Or is it saying, “these sheets are the same quality as Egyptian cotton, but they are not Egyptian”
?

They’re cotton sheets. manufacturer thinks their cotton is “Egyptian Cotton” quality but they’re not Egyptian cotton.

I am aware…beating a dead horse and all, but
this type of ethically/morally questionable behavior is at best intentionally misleading! At it’s worst it is downright deceptive yet is somehow still (borderline) legal ?!?!

And before anyone comments saying “are we late taking our meds today?” or “Too much time on our hands?”… my response is “Already taken” and “not enough time on my hands actually…I’m just so tired of people getting screwed” and It’s got my manties in big old twist!

(Most likely already too late for this but … I shall make every attempt to keep this to something less than “War and Peace” length. And well, with the likelihood/odds of that happening…if I’m successful, RUN don’t walk and buy yourself a lottery ticket NOW! Bad ADHD! )
Now where was I!!! Ah…ok.

Just because a manufacturer claims their product is x, y and z doesn’t give everyone who gets stuck with their product after it’s made(up?)a freebie to further the misinformation. I can’t be the only one to order something where a word such as “leather” is used a multitude of times, reviews seem support that “fact” and yet upon receipt you try to remember if LEGO really did make tiny plastic cows for some of their sets or is it just another example of the Mandela Effect???

It seems that within the last 10 years or so these “errors” occur more and more frequently and yet the attitude towards it lean towards it just being the cost of doing business these days. Yet somehow these types of business practices are not frowned upon with the same vim and vigor as in days past. Reminds me of a speech I was asked to give back in college about those pesky little things called ethics. The main speaking points concentrating on military intelligence, jumbo shrimp and finally business ethics… all oxymorons. Tat was 30 years ago. Sad to see not much has changed.

Makes you think what kind of world we’d be living in today if we all just took responsibility for our actions/dealings by taking this bit of wisdom to heart…“Just because you can doesn’t mean you should!”

(And now I’ll be stepping down from my soapbox…)

Wow. That’s an awful lot of babbling, while saying very little, if anything at all…

I don’t believe anyone is forcing you or anyone else to shop here, or anywhere else where they aren’t happy with their sales procedures. We all have the choice. Just as you had the choice to babble on like you did while accomplishing so little…

Cute profile pic, btw. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We also have the responsibility to say/do something when we see any kind of wrongdoing occur. It’s just the right thing to do. If enough people took a stand against things like these, we’d be making our communities and the world a vastly different place for everyone. That’s what is supposed to be done in polite society… because a society should be judged upon how it treats each and every member. Not just the ones with money or influence …they obviously don’t give a single flying F#@K if someone else gets the shaft when buying something or gets less than in goods or services because maybe they don’t know to look for certain wording even though they really shouldn’t have to in the first place. And yes, we can choose to shop wherever we want… But that’s not the point here. I’ve been shopping with Woot regularly for years, well before the new owner took over… since then it’s required much more ‘research’ when making purchases. Once you could just see something you wanted and buy it on the spot, knowing you got a great deal! Sadly that only happens sporadically at best anymore. And yes I’m aware websites need to make money but when you’re presenting yourself as woot knowing it’s business model and history it comes off as sketchy. I’m in no way inferring that this is just a Woot issue as you can find this kind of activity on more and more sites everyday. I do post in the forums when I find a better price somewhere and the lovely folks that work here and have to deal with pain in the ass. Customers like myself, go out of their way to make sure if a better price was found, that everything is taken care of. Woot has always had a great team of people and continues to. None of this is directed towards them because they aren’t the ones controlling the purse strings so to speak. So to start wrapping this up…it is more than a little disheartening that we would need laws specifically targeting the truthfulness ( or lack thereof) in product descriptions (laws that provide steep fines for deceiving/defrauding). So back to my op…just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
It’s almost as if all these people/companies missed that day in kindergarten where we all learned how to share, help eachother out and to play nice with others…You know just common courtesy and base human decency kind of stuff.
